“I am glad that we allowed him to transfer to his dream club. The fact that the transfer did not work out in the summer remained in his mind. He didn’t do well, he was injured and he didn’t do what we expected of him in the fall. We sold him as a player from the bench,” summarized Tvrdík at Friday’s press conference. Sor played in a total of nine competitive games in the autumn, scoring only twice against the Gibraltarian outsider St Joseph’s, otherwise not a single knock. Groin problems sidelined him for a large part of the autumn , he didn’t get in shape.
Tvrdík was basking in financial profit, exactly a year ago the nimble Nigerian came from Baník Ostrava for around 30 million crowns. “And now we sold it for almost seven million euros, the net profit is around five million euros. The offer was fantastic, it was a great investment,” the head of Slavia outlined the economic background. Five million euros equals 120 million crowns at the current exchange rate.
The Red and Whites released Moses Usor’s autumn comet in the winter. Sor’s younger compatriot shone especially in the first part of the season, then gradually faded. Nevertheless, his departure for a loan with an option, which is supposed to be around fifty million crowns, to Linz in Austria is quite surprising.
“There would be little probability that he would play in the starting line-up,” said Tvrdík as one of the reasons. The Sišivas have enough players for the wing positions and in the spring they want to give the young foster Matěj Jurásk an opportunity to show himself.
The chairman of the board of directors of the Vršovice club also mentioned another somewhat surprising but interesting reason. Slavia plans to start cooperation with Linc. “They have similar goals, ideas and journey. I think that in the future we could work together and thus find a partner beyond the borders,” stated Tvrdík. He also stated that one more player could go to Linca on loan.
In the winter, another Nigerian in the red and white jersey will figure out his future. Winger Peter Olayinka signed for Crvene Zvezda Belgrade six months before the end of his contract. He remains available to coach Jindřich Trpišovský for the spring. “He has the green light to use him as he needs. Our coaches always place those who are the best, not for merit or popularity,” Tvrdík pointed out.
He was especially excited by the fact that Olayinka was already happily taking pictures with the CZ Belgrade jersey. “It was a little disappointing. Peter didn’t appreciate the situation, I think it was very much the work of his agent, it caused some emotions between us. I didn’t welcome it, nor did our fans. Although he is a free player, there are rules that should not be broken,” said the club boss forcefully.
He negotiated with Olayinka to stay, but could not present him with such a lucrative offer as the Serbian club. “Times are hard, the Czechia is in recession, no one knows what will happen next. We have made austerity measures in a number of areas, one of which is that we have introduced a salary cap that we will not go over. In short, players can no longer expect multi-million dollar monthly rewards with us. That’s the end of it. Peter was the highest paid player on our team and we had to compete with offers that were ten percent higher than what he has with us. That’s why we couldn’t come to an agreement. We negotiated for a long time, Peter was willing, but we were unable to bring our ideas closer,” Tvrdík described.
