On Tuesday, “Przegląd Sportowy” reported unofficially that Jakub Polkowski will no longer be deputy director of TVP Sport. We contacted Jakub Kwiatkowski to confirm the information. – Loss of trust and lack of loyalty were the reasons for TVP’s separation from Jakub Polkowski. At this point it is not known who will take over his duties – Kwiatkowski told Wirtualnemedia.pl.

“PS” claims that the reason for the breakup is the turmoil surrounding Przemysław Babiarz. A group of TVP Sport employees and athletes sent an appeal a few days ago to the heads of Telewizja Polska regarding the reinstatement of Babiarz to commentate on the games. Ultimately, the commentator returned to work, and has been working in Paris on track and field since Friday.

Jakub Polkowski did not sign the appeal, but made a statement on the X portal:
“Regarding the suspension of Przemysław Babiarz, I owe a few words of my own. I learned about this decision on Saturday, like most of you, from this very place – portal X. My decision-making capacity on this subject was zero, but I have inevitably become one of its faces, although privately I have a different view on the subject, which I presented directly in a message to Przemysław Babiarz. You know the position of the TVP management very well and as the deputy director of TVP Sport, Kuba Kwiatkowski, I did not intend to step out of line, because these were decisions that were not made at the level of my activity. However, conscience and human decency require me to take a public position on this matter, with the awareness of the consequences that lie behind it. That is why I fully support the letter from the TVP Sport editorial office addressed to the General Director of TVP – Mr. Tomasz Sygut, which was published in public today. The voice of my colleagues from the editorial office is also my voice on this subject.”

In April this year, Jakub Polkowski became deputy director of TVP Sport responsible for the editorial office. He replaced Sebastian Staszewski in this position.
