TVNET’s Toms Treiberg Explores Cultural and Political Topics in New Podcast ‘Nav dyu Tomu’

On the other hand, before joining the TVNET team, Toms Treiberg has been measuring and monitoring the work done in the cultural field for several years – both in the broadcast formats of Latvian Television and Latvian Radio. This time, Tom has decided to draw his conclusions also about what is happening in less culturally related areas.

“Culture is, of course, my primary field of professional activity. As elsewhere, it also has its share of disagreements and disagreements between the participants – therefore, one of the topics in the first episode of “Nav dyu Tomu” will be the work of the jury of the National Cinema Award “Lielais Kristaps”, which resulted in the failure of the nomination for the documentary film about the legendary dissident Gunars Astra. Not so much the work of the jury itself, but the reaction of some well-known cultural workers and future politicians to it.

However, events that are outside the cultural framework are also important to me, and carefully groping through the winding corridors of information, I try to find connections and explanations in them, what impact they can have on each individual and society as a whole.”

In addition to the mentioned topic, in the first episode of the podcast, the decision of the creator of the twitter convo, Reiņš Pozņak, to run for the European Parliament elections, the visit of Saeima members to China, the polarization of society on the issue of Israel and Palestine, as well as the two Toms will introduce the monuments erected in honor of the climate activist Greta Thunberg and the singer For Shakira.
