The club’s own sports center of TVE Greven <!––> in the Kroner Heide is getting on in years. Heating, insulation, lighting: the former tennis hall, which the club converted almost 20 years ago into a sports center for gymnastics, fitness and tennis and which also houses the dancers of TSG Phönix, is to be renovated. And what’s more: As part of this, TVE is planning to convert part of the hall. The remaining tennis court is to give way to a multifunctional hall the size of a simple sports hall. With the renovation, the club is responding to the growing need for space, especially in children’s and youth sports.
For many years the TVE did everything in its power to repay the loans for the purchase of the sports center. The club is now almost debt-free and wants to use the freedom it has gained to modernize its domicile in Kroner Heide.
Frank Simon leaves that the need for renovation is considerable <!––>, chairman of the TVE since spring, no doubt arise. He puts the cost of getting the building up to date at 360,000 euros.
The association can shoulder the project because, in addition to its own funds, grants from the state program “Modern Sports Facility” are available. The city sports association, which decides on the distribution of the funds, has granted the TVE 175,000 euros.
As Frank Simon confirmed after a meeting with the department heads of the association in the middle of this week, the TVE wants to use this opportunity to change parts of the hall. The tennis court is to be converted into a multi-purpose hall for many sports. To do this, the floor is replaced and equipment rooms are created. Frank Simon expects the additional planned renovation to cost around half a million euros. Simon obtained the vote of the extended board this week. Now concrete plans follow so that the project can be tackled in the coming year. The TVE boss is hoping for completion in 2021.
