Bollenstreek – A 77-year-old man died on Monday morning shortly after he received a corona vaccination in Leeuwenhorst NH in Noordwijkerhout. The location was to be officially opened on Monday by the Noordwijk mayor Wendy Verkleij, but the festive opening has been canceled. The GGD is investigating whether the vaccination has anything to do with the death of the man. The puncture site in Noordwijkerhout will remain open as usual.
The 77-year-old man came for a Pfizer vaccination Monday morning. After being injected, he had to sit for 15 minutes. On the advice of the RIVM, everyone who receives a vaccination must stay at the location for 15 minutes after the injection because of possible severe allergic reactions.
The man left the venue after 15 minutes and became unwell at the door. He was received by doctors from the GGD and taken by ambulance. The man died in the hospital. It is unclear why the man died. The GGD is investigating whether the Pfizer vaccination played a role.
Leeuwenhorst will be open as a puncture site for the first time on Monday. Vaccinations have been put in place from 08:00 this morning. The official opening by the mayor was scheduled for 11 am, mayor Wendy Verkleij was already present. The staff at the injection site are upset, our reporter says, but the vaccination continues as usual.
