TV scrapping bonus: how and who can request a discount of up to 100 euros

From 23 August citizens will be able to request the scrapping bonus tv with a discount up to 100 euro for the purchase of televisions compatible with the new technological standards of digital terrestrial transmission Dvbt-2 / Hevc Main 10. This is provided for by the decree of the Minister of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti, published in the Official Gazette, which also contains the form to request the incentive to be delivered to the retailer or to an authorized ecological island.

Scrap TV bonus, what is it

The bonus consists of a 20% discount on the purchase price of the new TV, up to a maximum of 100 euros, which is obtained by scrapping TV sets that will no longer be suitable for the new technological standards.

How to apply for the TV scrapping bonus

Citizens will be able to request the TV scrapping bonus for the purchase of televisions compatible with the new technological standards of digital terrestrial transmission Dvbt-2 / Hevc Main 10. The contribution for the scrapping of the TV is cumulative for the purchase of a device also with the previous incentive (Bonus tv decoder) for those who are in possession of all the requisites required. Unlike the previous incentive, which remains in force and is therefore cumulative, the bonus is aimed at all citizens without limits of Isee.
To get the incentive, that is the discount up to 100 euros, it will be enough download the appropriate form (published in the Official Gazette together with the implementing decree governing the bonus) and present it to the retailer or even to the authorized ecological islands.
The benefit is however linked to the family unit as only one bonus is granted for the purchase of a family TV.

The requirements to get the bonus

There are three necessary requirements to be able to request the TV scrapping bonus: to be resident in Italy; properly scrapping a TV purchased before December 22, 2018; be up to date with the payment of the subscription fee for the broadcasting service. This last requirement is not provided for citizens aged seventy-five or over, exempt from paying the fee.

TV scrapping, the schedule for the reorganization of frequencies: when in Sicily

To ensure a gradual and orderly path towards new television broadcasting technologies, the minister also signed a decree that reshapes the schedule for the reorganization of television frequencies in regional areas. The provision provides that starting from 15 October 2021 some national programs will be broadcast exclusively with DVBT / MPEG4 encoding.

Particularly, the new schedule for the reorganization of the frequencies in the regional areas is reshaped as follows: from 15 November 2021 to 18 December 2021 in area 1A – Sardinia; from 3 January 2022 to 15 March 2022 in area 2 – Valle d’Aosta, Piedmont, Lombardy except the province of Mantua, province of Piacenza, province of Trento, province of Bolzano; in area 3 – Veneto, province of Mantua, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna except the province of Piacenza; from 1 March 2022 to 15 May 2022 in area 4 – Sicily, Calabria, Puglia, Basilicata; Abruzzo, Molise, Marche; from 1 May 2022 to 30 June 2022 in area 1B – Liguria, Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Campania.

The decree also provided for the introduction of the DVBT-2 digital terrestrial television broadcasting technology standard starting from January 1, 2023.
