Last week, the fourth episode of Fabio Fazio’s program attracted 2.2 million viewers for a 10.5% share. As mentioned, Grillo’s speech was highly anticipated yesterday.
As Emanuele Buzzi wrote in Corriere, his return to TV is a show, the Beppe Grillo-Show. The Five Star guarantor dominates the scene, mixing songs from his repertoire, especially from his latest show I am the worst, with jokes about the protagonists of the political scene. In reality, Grillo takes half an hour before stinging known and lesser-known faces of the Movement. First the founder of the Five Star Movement attacks a great ex: Giggino the folder, I’m talking about Di Maio, he was the most prepared politician but we didn’t think he would get caught up in the power of organizing people. He and I chose Conte. I looked at the programs, the ideas, whether from the right or the left it doesn’t matter, if it’s a good idea. But then he stabbed us….
Then he jokes about the current star leader, Giuseppe Conte: When I chose him he wasn’t a member of the Movement. a handsome man, a graduate, speaks English, then he spoke and little was understood… perfect for politics… but improved. Then he admits: There was quite a fight at the beginning. There is also a lash against the Meloni executive. This government is a decal, the more you spit on it the more it sticks. You have to stand still and when it dries it comes off on its own, Grillo says. And he adds: The social fabric is coming apart and the government is trying to do what it can.
The founder of the Five Star Movement defends the historical battles of the Movement, from the citizen’s income to the Superbonus. The super building bonus was also an idea, with Draghi the agreements were that it had to last at least 5 years, like the citizen’s income, and then it had to be diluted. Instead they stopped them, he says. But marginal politics. And the hardest thrust has to do with the private sector. Grillo, in fact, in his speech quotes Giulia Bongiorno, senator of the League and lawyer of the girl who accused Grillo’s son, Ciro, of sexual assault. a lawyer, president of the Justice Commission, a senator from the League who holds rallies in front of the courts – says the M5S founder – where there is a case behind closed doors… inappropriate. So everything gets mixed up. But before Grillo goes any further, Fabio Fazio stops him.
Yet the Five Star guarantor’s show began with other hopes. This is a bell. If I go out of tune, ring me, he said when entering the TV studio. But Grillo was then a river in flood, citing anecdotes already present in the latest shows. And throwing in jokes. The only constant that he repeats several times is what seems like a joke, but which marks a (perhaps) definitive choice between entertainment and politics. I can’t lead or bring a political movement to a successful conclusion, I’ve retreated to see what happens, she says several times. Only for the world of media and TV does the founder reserve an equal number of jokes (almost always missed). Between the serious and the facetious, Grillo recalls: I founded the Movement but I had joined the Democratic Party, in Arzachena. And he harangues: I’m here to understand if I’m the worst. Yes, I’m the worst. I have made this country worse, there is no joke. The last interview with Vespa I lost the elections, all those I sent aff… are in the government, I fought the whole world and now I go to a bar and you make me pay for the coffee. And again: Bruno Vespa wrote a book From Mussolini to Beppe Grillo but do you realise? When I see a book by him in a service station, I cover it with Casalino’s, wow!. Gone are the years of the Tsunami tour, of the M5S megaphone Grillo: he himself explains that he has at least four lives. The last one is a new page, increasingly distant from the limelight of the buildings.
