TV Profile Sentenced to Prison for Drunk Driving in Oslo

A well-known TV profile was last week sentenced to prison in the Oslo district court for driving under the influence.

The basis for the charge is that on Tuesday 3 January 2023 the person in question drove a car in a densely built-up area in Oslo, despite the fact that she was under the influence of alcohol.

Witnesses observed the car “swinging from side to side” in broad daylight, and from the witness description it appears that “the person was clearly not able to drive”.

A blood test taken at 2.40pm on the same day showed an alcohol concentration of 2.62 per thousand.

DKK 75,000 fine

On Tuesday last week, the woman made an unreserved confession during a court hearing in Oslo district court, and was therefore sentenced to unconditional prison for 21 days.

She was also fined NOK 75,000, in addition to losing the right to drive a motor vehicle subject to a driver’s license for two years and three months.

To get her license back, she must take a full, new driving test.

Good evening Norway has been in contact with the woman’s defender, Harald Fjeldstad.

– We are considering appealing the penalty. We have until after Easter, so we will use Easter to think a bit, says Fjeldstad.

From the judgment it appears that the described driving style, as well as the fact that the driving took place during the day and in a central location, entailed, in the court’s opinion, “a not inconsiderable potential for damage”.

The convict has had several major roles both in front of and behind the camera.

– Serious

The employer informs Good evening Norway that they have just learned of the judgment and will follow up on this with the person concerned.

– Drunk driving is serious. It entails danger to oneself and others, and is of course something we distance ourselves from.

Good evening Norway has chosen to anonymize the woman’s employer in order not to identify the convicted person.

The employer says that it is too early to say what consequences this will have for the employment relationship, but points out that you do not lose your job because of such a judgment.

– This is an unconditional sentence, so here it is, among other things, a sentence that can affect work tasks going forward, she says and adds that it is important for the employer to look after their employee in this situation.
