TV Personality Trude Drevland Reveals Battle with Cancer

TV personality and former Bergen mayor Trude Drevland (76), has become a popular figure after participating in programs such as “Skal vi danse” and “Camp Culinaris”.

Reveals: – Took painkillers every day

Earlier this year, the 76-year-old was able to reveal that she had quit smoking, after receiving scary news from the doctor.

In an interview with Se og Hør Drevdal now tells that she has received a discouraging message: She has bladder cancer.

– The day before 17 May I found out that I had cancer, and that now I just had to wait to be operated on. For me – and for anyone else – it’s a total upheaval. And not least a shock. So then my summer became completely different, yes, basically most things became completely different, says the former Conservative mayor to Se og Hør.

“Now it’s SHARPENING”

Drevland, who had surgery last month, thanks her “awake” GP who sent her straight to a specialist after not liking what she saw in the tests.

Drevland tells the magazine that she is in the process of putting the worst thoughts to rest, and jokes that she has no plans to lie down to die.

– I probably thought the worst. For periods after I had the operation in June, I thought about how this was going to end. But now I’m calm – I know I’m in good hands.

– Not sure if it was safe

Furthermore, the rap-mouthed northerner says that the plan is to remain as “everyone” knows her.

– I don’t want to be “the one who got cancer”. I want to be Trude Drevland – who I have always been – but who has also recovered from cancer – and who now gladly accepts the treatment I need, because I know it will make me better.
