It started calmly in the first half when PSG visited Manchester City. It was City who managed to create the most, but without succeeding in getting it into the net. Among other things, Riyad Mahrez was close, while the star trio at the top for PSG had a harder time getting to sharp positions.
In others, however, it was PSG who showed their front feet first. In the 50th minute, they offered a sharp combination play, until the ball landed at Mabppé in the penalty area. With a low shot, he got the ball through the defense and into goal. A taste start in the second half for the away team in the big meeting.
However, the management did not last very long. After just over an hour, Manchester City equalized. A deep lead ball out on the edge was heeled into the box. It bounced on Gabriel Jesus, on to Raheem Sterling, which put Nacas in PSG’s goal. At the far post, the Englishman could thus poke the ball from close range, to 1-1. This means that Sterling has scored in three straight appearances for Manchester City.
With just over 75 minutes played, the turn was completed. Bernardo Silva received a post that was beaten all over the box and hit the ball in the first touch to Jesus, who lobbed the ball into goal. PSG then immediately set off in the offensive, in search of a draw. But it did not succeed.
Jesus became the match hero with assists for the equalizer and goal scorer for the decisive full hit. The match means that both teams are ready for continued play in the Champions League, when Leipzig beat Club Brugge, which means that neither of them can go on in the final round.
