TV: Giroud two-goal shooter for Milan

When Milan hosted Cagliari in Serie A on Sunday night, the match got off to a goal-oriented start.

Sandro Tonali sent in 1-0 with a left free kick after twelve minutes, but Alessandro Deiola nodded in 1-1 for Cagliari just three minutes later. Two minutes later, Milan regained the lead when Rafael Leao fired a shot that aimed at Brahim Diaz’s back and went into the net. However, Leao was awarded the target. Three goals already after 17 minutes of play, that is.

Then it was time for Olivier Giroud to present himself in the Milan shirt. The French forward, who was recruited from Chelsea this summer, scored his first Serie A goal for Milan when he got the ball from Diaz in right-back position in the penalty area and sent in 3-1 with his left foot.

Before the end of the first half, Giroud also managed to score his second goal when he placed 4-1 from the penalty spot. It was also the end result. Afterwards, Giroud took the opportunity to pay tribute to a certain Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is injured and watched the match from the sidelines.

– Ibrahimovic is a fantastic champion and very important in the locker room. We want to play together, but I am happy to play with all my teammates, says Giroud according to Football-Italia.

Zlatan is expected to make a comeback after his injury when Serie A starts up again after the national team break on 12 September. Milan will then host Lazio at home.
