TV: Draw after penalty drama – Leipzig saved points at the last second

Leipzig started strong when PSG visited the Champions League. After just eight minutes, Christopher Nkunku nodded in 1-0. However, the striker chose not to celebrate the goal, as he previously played for PSG.

In the next attack, a penalty was awarded to Leipzig, which André Silva had to deal with. He went on a hard shot, but the penalty was saved quite easily by PSG’s star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. During the season, it has been Forsberg who beat the penalties. In IC More’s Champions League studio, the expert Hasse Backe was convinced that Silva stole the penalty from the Swede.

– Silva strings the penalty, I am completely convinced. It’s not like coach Jesse Marsch goes out and says who’s going to take the penalty. It is rather Silva who takes the ball and wants to shoot. Of course, Forsberg does not want to put on a stage, says Backe in C More’s studio.

The Germans thus missed the chance to directly shock PSG with a two-goal lead. It made the guests wake up. It wasn’t long before Kylian Mbappé scored the ball from the left and Georginio Wijnaldum stood right in front of goal to put in the equalizer.

The half continued to be eventful. Just after the lead goal, it got messy on the pitch. Tyler Adams went into a close fight against Angel Di Maria and then chose to put the Argentine in the back. It created irritation on the pitch, where players from both teams gathered, but it soon calmed down and Adams was given a warning.

The Dutchman Wijnaldum showed up again just before the break. From close range, at the left post, he nodded the ball in. The case was first ruled out, but after a VAR review, it was approved by the judge Andreas Ekberg. Two goals from Wijnaldum, who has had a hard time getting playing time since joining PSG.

The match calmed down considerably in the second half – but in stoppage time Leipzig got a golden chance to save points. After a VAR review, Ekberg sentenced him. With neither Forsberg nor Silva left on the field, Dominik Szoboszlai was given the responsibility. He handled it better than his teammate and despite Donnarumma being close, the ball went into the net. 2-2 with only minutes left to play.

It was also the final result, which means that Leipzig is out of the Champions League with two group games left.
