There are still very few such cars in the world. The Mirai is actually an electric car that receives energy from a fuel cell electrochemical generator. Hydrogen in this case is an energy carrier, not a fuel, because it is not burned, but serves as a reagent for generating electricity. It is stored compressed in three cylinders on the Mirai floor.
