Time-shifted television consumption during the month of January 2024 stood at 8 minutes per person per day, which represents 4% of total television consumption.
This is highlighted by the ‘TV Audience Report: Deferred’ prepared by Barlovento Comunicación, according to data from Kantar, which highlights that the deferred audience records the non-linear consumption of television content over the seven days following the broadcast on direct (linear), as well as the deferred on the same day of said issue (vosdal).
Of the total time-shifted consumption, Spaniards have dedicated an average of six minutes per person per day to content broadcast on free-to-air television, and three minutes to paid content. In the case of ‘Payment Themes’, deferred consumption accounts for 14% of total paid consumption and 3% for open consumption.
Regarding the unique viewers registered in the month of January 2024, the research published this Thursday reveals that they have reached 22.5 million, and 4.5 million daily viewers.
Of them, 27% (1,214,000 viewers) spent less than 30 minutes watching time-shifted television; 22% (1,002,000 viewers) between 30 and 60 minutes; 27% (1,208,000 viewers) between 1 and 2 hours; 12% (560,000 viewers) between 2 and 3 hours; and 12% (535,000 viewers) more than 3 hours.
Regarding the profile of the time-shifted television viewer, the research indicates that 56% are women and 44% are men. Furthermore, 43% are between 45 and 64 years old.
On the other hand, the most watched broadcast this month on a delayed basis has been ‘The Island of Temptations’, by Telecinco, (January 24, 2024) with 560,000 average audience viewers (33% of the total audience achieved by the broadcast of entertainment is for its delayed audience).
Finally, the television networks that have the highest delayed consumption in the month of January 2024 are, according to the study, La 1, Antena 3, Telecinco, laSexta, Cuatro, Movistar Plus+, TV3, La 2, Series por M+ and Mega, among the top ten.
