Tusk: Preparatory work for the construction of the first nuclear power plant begins

nbsp;Preparatory work for the construction of the first Polish nuclear power plant is starting, which will include the construction of roads, a pier and work on the railway network, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced. Finance Minister Andrzej Domański added that PLN 4.6 billion has been secured for this purpose in next year’s budget to recapitalize the Polish Nuclear Power Plants company.

“I can confirm that preparatory work for the construction of the first nuclear power plant is in full swing, we are talking about this first project in northern Poland, in Kashubia. Today I received the first such report from the Minister of Infrastructure,” Tusk said during a press conference.

“[Prace te] must start with infrastructure preparation due to the nature of the construction. […] These are massive financial decisions when it comes to building roads and piers and modernizing railway lines. Sometimes we are talking about large, gigantic elements [które trzeba dowieźć na miejsce budowy] and that is why these works begin with infrastructure works,” he stressed.

Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański announced that funds for this purpose have been secured in next year’s budget.

“We are starting this investment. We have secured PLN 4.6 billion for 2025. We plan to transfer these funds de facto in the form of recapitalization of PEJ,” Domański said.

Polish Nuclear Power Plants (PEJ) have submitted an application to the Pomeranian Voivode for permission to begin preparatory work for the construction of the first Polish nuclear power plant, the company reported earlier. PEJ plans to secure the future construction site and conduct geodetic work, among other things.
