KIEV, KOMPAS.com – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged the United Nations Security Council to take action against Russia over air strikes on civilian infrastructure again plunging Ukrainian cities into darkness and cold as winter sets in.
Reported by ReutersOn Wednesday (11/23/2022) Russia released a barrage of missiles across Ukraine.
This resulted in the deaths of 10 people, the closure of the nuclear power plant and the disruption of water and electricity supplies in many places.
“Today we received 70 missiles. It is the formula for Russian terror. All of these undermine our energy infrastructure. Hospitals, schools, transportation and residential districts are all suffering,” Zelensky said via video link to the boardroom.
Ukraine expects a very firm reaction from the United Nations to the airstrike.
The council is unlikely to take any action in response to the appeal because Russia is a member with veto power.
US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said Russian President Vladimir Putin clearly attacked in the winter to cause extraordinary suffering to the Ukrainian people.
