Turkey has issued a warning over Israel’s attacks on Hezbollah, saying that the bombings could further plunge the Middle East into chaos. In a statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, it was stated that “Israel’s attacks on Lebanon represent a new stage in its attempt to drag the entire region into chaos.”
Turkey has been a consistent critic of the Israeli offensive, triggered by the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, which started the current conflict. The Turkish government has urgently called on the international community to intervene in the situation.
“It is crucial that all institutions responsible for maintaining international peace and security, in particular the United Nations Security Council, together with the international community, take necessary measures without delay,” the ministry said.
The statement also criticised countries that unconditionally support Israel, accusing them of helping Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “shed blood for his political interests.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to address the war in Gaza during his address to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.
