Hurjet is to change the T-38 trainers and F-5 combat trainers as part of Turkey’s program to build its own fifth-generation fighter.
Turkey’s first Hurjet supersonic jet successfully completed its maiden flight. This was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Twitter on Tuesday, April 25.
“Hurjet, our first domestically developed and manned supersonic jet aircraft, has successfully completed its maiden flight,” Erdogan said.
He also shared footage of the plane leaving the hangar and flying.

Hurjet is the first jet trainer and light combat aircraft completely developed in Turkey. It is to change the T-38 training aircraft and F-5 combat trainers as part of the country’s program to create its own fifth-generation TF-X fighter, implemented since 2017.
Recall that in December 2022, Turkey conducted the first test of the Bayraktar Kızılelma unmanned fighter.
And earlier in April, Turkey commissioned the world’s first UAV carrier ship, dubbed TCG Anadolu. He became the flagship of the country’s fleet.
