Turkish researcher Hüseyin Çaksen claimed in an academic paper published last May that “many” believe that this incurable disease, which afflicts 2.3 million people worldwide, has a “supernatural cause.”
In a research paper published in the Journal of Pediatric Neurology, the professor confirmed that his theory could never be “scientifically proven,” but that it might be a divine punishment or test.
“Although this cannot be proven scientifically, we strongly believe that the main cause of illness in some people is due to supernatural reasons, such as a gift, test, or punishment from God,” he wrote in the paper.
He also suggested training medical professionals on “supernatural causes with a religious context,” according to what the British newspaper (Daily Mail) reported.
On the other hand, one critic described the theory as completely illogical, and even described it as “vulgar.”
Moreover, the professor’s latest research paper shed light on his other works; This prompted observers to find second controversial articles related to girls and women in general.
Seven (7) of his academic publications have been withdrawn so far by journal publishers, including the MS Scientific Journal.
Most of the notices attached to all the papers indicated that they were retracted because they “lacked scientific basis.”
For its part, the Retraction Watch blog reported that this move came one day after research into MS sparked outrage online.
It is noteworthy that multiple sclerosis is a lifelong condition in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the body, causing nerve damage in the brain and spinal cord.
Symptoms include difficulty walking, vision problems, and numbness or tingling in various parts of the body.
