Turkish Province of Zonguldak Ship Accidents and Storms in the Black Sea

The office of the governor of the Turkish province of Zonguldak said that the captain of the ship Kafkametler reported on the morning of November 19 that the ship was drifting towards the breakwater (a hydraulic structure on the water designed to protect the coastline or port water area from waves).

Since then, local authorities have been unable to contact the crew members who were on board the cargo ship. It is noted that the region suffered from powerful storms and unfavorable weather did not allow aircraft and ships to conduct searches.

Ship accidents in the Black Sea

Also on November 19, a ship moored in the port of Eregli split in two off the coast of Turkey. The ship broke apart due to a strong storm, and part of it washed ashore.

Earlier, in the Black Sea near the Bulgarian Cape Shabla, the ferry “Slavyanin”, sailing under the Russian flag, received a hole on its side. The ship was transporting railway tanks with liquefied gas.
