Turkish private jet landlord: Ghosn used our aircraft to flee

The private Turkish landlord MNG Jet says that aircraft from that company were used to the escaped to transport former Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn to Lebanon. Seven people had already been arrested in Turkey before, who would have helped Ghosn to flee Japan.

Ghosn popped up on Monday suddenly in Lebanon, after he had fled via Turkey. Japanese media report that he was hiding in an instrument case after a Christmas party at his home. It would then have been smuggled into a ready-made private jet.

Ghosn said he left Japan because he has no faith in the justice system.

Two devices

The Turkish aircraft company says in a statement that it has leased two private aircraft to two different customers last month. One flight went from Dubai to Osaka in Japan and then from Osaka to Istanbul, the other aircraft went from Istanbul to the Lebanese capital Beirut. “It didn’t look like there was a connection between the two leases,” the company said.

MNG Jet announces that one of its employees has admitted fraud, by not mentioning the name of Ghosn in the documentation for the flights. The company has filed a complaint with the Turkish judiciary.

Picked up

Ghosn was arrested in Japan last November. The former chief executive, who has a Brazilian, French and Lebanese passport, is suspected of fraud in Japan in millions. He contradicts the accusations himself.

The 65-year-old Ghosn has been the boss of Nissan since 1999 and has also worked as a Renault CEO since 2005. Under his leadership, Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi formed a partnership.
