Turkish presidential candidate Muharrem Ince live NTV announced his withdrawal from the struggle for the post of head of state. Mr. Ince connected the decision with numerous provocations against him.
“I have been in politics for over 40 years, but over the years I have not seen what has happened in the last 45 days. Some fake checks, fake videos. My photo was posted on some Israeli porn site. Neither the police nor the prosecutor’s office is investigating. This is slander. The Turkish state was unable to protect my reputation,” said Mr. Ince (translation from TASS).
The politician also urged supporters to cast their votes in the parliamentary elections (to be held along with the presidential ones) for the Fatherland Party, from which he ran.
Elections of the head of the republic will be held on May 14. According to polls, the two main presidents for the presidency are the incumbent head of state, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the single candidate from the opposition Popular Alliance parties, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
