Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked Elon Musk a surprising question on Monday during her meeting on Sunday.
Erdogan met the American technology tycoon, CEO of Tesla, in New York, where the latter attended the meeting carrying his young child on his legs.
Video footage of the meeting showed Erdogan asking Musk, “Where is your wife,” apparently given the presence of his young child with him.
“It’s in San Francisco,” Musk replied, laughing.
Then he added, “We are separated now…so I take care of my child.”
The Turkish President also appeared caressing Musk’s child, while the latter exchanged smiles with him.
During the meeting, which seemed very friendly, the Turkish President urged Musk to open a Tesla factory for electric vehicles in Turkey, according to the Turkish presidency reported on Monday.
The Turkish presidency said in a statement, “President Erdogan called on Tesla to open its seventh factory in Turkey.”
Ankara pointed out that many large car manufacturers have assembly plants in Turkey, including Toyota, Ford, Fiat, and Renault, and Turkish contractors provide parts to Tesla.
