Turkish pop star Tarkan’s new song becomes a protest song against President Erdogan

Whether Tarkan will suffer further consequences remains to be seen. Beemsterboer refers to the Turkish pop star Sezen Aksu who recently came under fire for a passage in an old song in which she says that Adam and Eve are ignorant.

“That caused protests at her house, a lawsuit against her and President Erdogan himself reacted. That was about a song that was five years old,” he says.
