Turkish Nationals Attack People with Knives and Iron Bars in Vienna Sidewalk Café

After a dispute, three Turkish nationals are said to have attacked several people in a sidewalk café with knives and iron bars.

Bloody confrontation on Saturday evening in Quellenstrasse in Vienna-Favoriten. At around 9:45 p.m., officers from the city police headquarters in Favoriten were alerted to a bar because a quarrel was said to have resulted in a stabbing. Two people who had been stabbed and who witnessed the crime were found at the scene.

Since the suspects were known by name, they were quickly tracked down. Witnesses and victims agreed that several people had attacked them with iron bars and knives in a pub’s sidewalk café. Officials from WEGA were able to stop the fleeing suspects. These in turn claimed to have been attacked themselves and some were slightly injured and referred to self-defense.

The three fleeing men, Turkish nationals aged 21-44, were provisionally arrested by the officers. The professional rescue service provided emergency medical care to the injured and took them to hospitals. Further investigations are being conducted by the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, southern branch.
