Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s main parliamentary ally, head of the Turkish nationalist party MHP Devlet Bahçeli, warned Israel of the consequences of its policies and issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Tel Aviv. The words of the leader of Turkish nationalists are quoted by Voice of Turkey.
Bahçeli stated:
“The brutal attacks, which have reached the level of genocide, have already exceeded the limits of tolerance. On October 17, the hospital was bombed. Unfortunately, innocent Palestinians are covered in blood. Israeli attacks have killed 352 Palestinians in the past 24 hours. Since October 7, 4,385 of our Palestinian brothers have been killed. About 1,756 children and almost 1,000 women were brutally killed. The international community watched the serial and continuous killings in the Gaza Strip like a horror film. No sound, no reaction. The UN is blocking even a temporary ceasefire due to the US veto. Recognition of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, whose capital is East Jerusalem and whose geographical integrity has been secured within the 1967 borders, is the only way out of today’s darkness. Turkey’s guarantor proposal to open the impasse between Israel and Palestine is an extremely rational, precise and strategic initiative.”
An Erdogan ally added:
“As a party of the national movement, our call is this: if a ceasefire cannot be achieved within 24 hours from today, if attacks do not stop, if bombs are dropped on the oppressed, I openly declare to my people that Turkey must quickly intervene and do everything necessary due to its historical, humanitarian and religious responsibility. Our legacy is to fulfill the mission of protecting Gaza. The Republic of Turkey is ready to make Gaza a city of happy children and an Islamic city where our brothers and sisters will live in peace and security, and I swear to God that it is capable of doing this. Our President supports the Turkish people and all believers in their active and multifaceted diplomatic struggle.”
