Turkish Military Strikes 24 Kurdish Militant Targets in Iraq and Syria, 9 Soldiers Killed in Clashes

ANKARA, KOMPAS.com – The Turkiye military on Sunday (14/1/2024) carried out air strikes in Iraq and Syria, destroying 24 targets belonging to the forces of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and its military wing, the YPG.

The Turkiye Defense Ministry also stated that many of the militias in this attack were neutralized.

Quoted from Reuters, the term “neutralized” in such statements often means “killed.”

This operation was carried out in the regions of northern Syria and Metina, Hakurk, Gara, Asos and Qandil in northern Iraq at 10 p.m. said the Turkiye Ministry of Defense.

Previously, nine Turkiye soldiers were killed in clashes with PKK members on Friday (12/1/2024).
