The Turkish lira fell by about one percent on Monday, to record 21 lira per dollar, in a fragile first reaction to the appointment of Mehmet Simsek, who is highly regarded, as Minister of Finance in Turkey, according to Reuters.
The Turkish lira was trading at 21.1 against the dollar in the Asian financial markets. The price was not far from the record low level it recorded against the dollar last week, as it reached 21.8 per dollar.
