A cargo ship sailing under the Turkish flag was hit at the Ukrainian port of Kherson, where it was anchored, reports the Turkish private television NTV, quoted by BTA.
The ship “Kurooglu 3” has been blocked in the port of Kherson since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. A statement from the owner company stated that the vessel was hit yesterday by two missiles, which are believed to have been fired from the direction of Russia, reported the electronic edition of the Turkish newspaper Turkiye.
The ship docked in the port of Kherson to unload the transported cargo on February 22, 2022, the company also explained. On footage of the vessel after the impact, it can be seen that it was damaged and rolled to one side, notes NTV.
There was no crew on board, only one employee who had been left there for security reasons, but was outside at the time of impact. More than 10 Turkish ships are waiting at the same port, the TV channel said.
