Turkish Airlines plans to purchase 600 new aircraft, which will be the largest order for a single airline company in the history of the aviation industry.

The Turkish national carrier expects to purchase 200 wide-body and 400 narrow-body aircraft as early as June 2023. These days, the annual general meeting of the International Air Transport Association will be held in Istanbul. To date, the airline’s fleet is 414 aircraft.

According to the chairman of the board and executive committee of Turkish Airlines Ahmetta Bolata, negotiations are underway “with manufacturers of aircraft and engines.” According to insiders, the deal will be with the American concern Boeing.

According to economic experts, Turkey’s demand for aircraft arose after the severing of Russia’s ties with the West. Today, a significant share of passenger traffic from Europe to Russia and Central Asia goes through Istanbul.
