Ankara –
President Turki Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched the latest call for Israel to ‘immediately stop the madness’ and end attacks on targets in Gaza Strip. This call was made after the Israeli military intensified attacks on the Palestinian enclave controlled by Hamas.
“Israel’s bombardment of Gaza increased last night and once again targeted women, children and innocent civilians, as well as exacerbating the ongoing humanitarian crisis,” Erdogan said in a statement via social media X, as reported AFPSaturday (28/10/2023).
“Israel must immediately stop this madness and end its attacks,” he said.
Israel has launched air strikes and is preparing to carry out a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, since Hamas attacked the Jewish state on October 7. Israeli officials say more than 1,400 people, mostly civilians, were killed in Hamas attacks.
A total of 229 people, according to Israeli authorities, were taken hostage by Hamas and taken to the Gaza Strip.
A health authority report in Hamas-controlled Gaza said more than 7,300 people, most of whom were civilians, had died as a result of Israeli air strikes over the past three weeks. That figure is said to include around 3,000 children.
Erdogan, in his statement, also called on many people to attend the action in support of Palestine which was held in Istanbul on Saturday (28/10) local time. The event, held by Erdogan’s AKP party, is expected to be attended by around one million people.
“We will state loudly and clearly that we stand on the side of the Palestinian people in opposing the persecution carried out by Israel,” he stressed.
