Turkey’s Foreign Ministry on Israel’s attack on Iran: “We are closely monitoring the events” – 2024-04-20 22:49:59

“We call on all parties to refrain from steps that could lead to a greater conflict,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement, following reports of an Israeli attack on Iran.

At the same time, it became known that the Foreign Minister of Turkey, Hakan Fidanhad a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdolakhian.

The request for the telephone communication came from the side of Tehran, Turkish diplomatic sources report, without giving information about the content of the conversation.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry in its statement draws attention to the risk of turning the tension “which started with Israel’s attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus in violation of International Law” into a permanent conflict after the recent developments.

The announcement of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

«In light of the latest developments, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the tensions initially triggered by Israel’s attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, in violation of International Law, are at risk of turning into a permanent conflict

We are closely monitoring the events. We call on all parties to refrain from steps that could lead to a wider conflict.

The international community’s priority should be to stop the carnage in Gaza and ensure lasting peace in our region by establishing a Palestinian state».
