Turkey’s Delay in Ratifying Sweden’s NATO Membership: Accusations of Softness on Kurdish Militants and Security Threats

Erdogan has delayed ratification of Sweden’s membership, accusing Stockholm of being too soft on Kurdish militants and other groups he sees as a security threat.

Sweden’s membership must be approved by all 31 NATO allies. Turkey and Hungary have not yet done so.

It is not known when the Turkish parliament will decide on Sweden’s membership in NATO.
