Turkey will have 10 satellites in space with the launch in 2023 of Türkiye and TÜRKSAT 6-A

The president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has assured that they are “taking measures to raise our country to the level it deserves in all areas, from the aerospace industry to the development of our own satellites”. In fact, the goal is for Turkey to have 10 Turkish satellites in space by 2023.

Thus, the president has made these statements during the speech delivered at the ceremony of entry into service of the satellite TÜRKSAT 5-Bwhere he has also assured that they are “preparing scientists for space programs to send vehicles to the lunar surface.”

Erdoğan has pointed out that “satellite technology is one of the areas in which we are making the most progress”. Thus, the satellite TÜRKSAT 3-A, launched in 2008, is still operational, while TÜRKSAT 4-A took its place in space in 2014 and TÜRKSAT 4-B in 2015. “Now we are adding new ones to them. Having launched TÜRKSAT 5-A and TÜRKSAT 5-B last year, we have become one of the few countries capable of sending two satellites into space in the same year”, explains the president.

In 2023, Turkey plans to launch the Türkiye reconnaissance satellite developed by Turkish engineers, which will be launched in January 2023 and TÜRKSAT 6-A in mid-2023, which would add 10 Turkish satellites in space.

“It is our debt of honor to defend, with the National Space Program, the rights of our country in space, as well as on land, sea and air,” President Erdogan declared.
