Turkey will give up Russian Mir payment system (senior AFP official)

Three Turkish public banks that have used the Russian Mir payment system will suspend its use, a senior Turkish official to AFP announced Wednesday.

“There are payments in progress, but a future date has been set for that,” the source told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity. Two Turkish private banks renounced the use of this system last week.
