The victim died Turkey earthquake and Syria again increased. Reportedly, the death toll was more than 44 thousand.
Reporting from AFP, as of Saturday (18/2/2023), the death toll from the devastating earthquake was more than 44,000. Most recently, one of the dead was a Ghanaian soccer player, Christian Atsu. He was found under a collapsed building in Antakya, Turkey.
State news agency Anadolu initially reported on Saturday three people were found alive barely two weeks after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit on February 6. But the agency later reported that one of them, a 12-year-old boy, had died.
Turkey’s Health Minister Fahrettin Koca shared a video of a 40-year-old mother in a field hospital receiving treatment. “She’s sober,” he tweeted.
An AFP correspondent said rescuers from Kyrgyzstan were continuing to work in Antakya in hopes of finding more people who were pulled out alive after thermal tests showed signs of life.
The team on Friday pulled four people alive from the rubble, including a 45-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy, in nearby Hatay province.
