Turkey has blocked access to the web portals of the German wave after requiring him to apply for a license, informs DW.
According to the report, the Turkish Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) has blocked the websites of the German public broadcaster German wave for license issues.
The German public broadcaster says it plans to take legal action against this move, according to the report.
The CEO of the DWPeter Limbourg said: “This is simply unacceptable for an independent broadcaster.”
“In extensive correspondence and even in a personal conversation with the chairman of the Media Control Authority we have explained why DW could not apply for such a license. For example, media outlets licensed in Turkey are required to remove online content that RTUK deems inappropriate,” he added.
The Supreme Radio and Television Council, also known for short as RTUK, is the Turkish state body in charge of controlling, regulating and sanctioning radio and television broadcasts, and was founded in 1994.
