NASA employee Umut Yıldız, a Turkish scientist, gave information about the search for traces of life on Mars, and said that Turkey should make longer plans for space.
Visiting the Gökmen Space and Aviation Training Center (GUHEM), which was established in Bursa to create excitement and awareness about space and aviation, scientist Dr. Umut Yıldız said that there have been serious developments on behalf of science centers in Turkey in recent years.

Yıldız also referred to the work of the Turkish Space Agency, “A roadmap has been drawn. The first goal is to land hard on the Moon in 2023, and then soft landing. Explaining the work of the robot named “Perseverance” sent by NASA to Mars, Yıldız said, “It’s not a small robot, it’s the size of a jeep. A helicopter was sent along with it.” said.

“We can see from here that we now know that we have the ability to operate a flying vehicle on Mars. The main purpose of the Perseverance robot is to try to find life there. We don’t know if there is life or not, but we know that there is liquid water. Further down, there are underground ponds, we also found ponds in this way. In short, we are very close to life. The thing we associate with water is generally water. We can say that there is life where we see water. Maybe we can deduce something from here. We can also understand from sedimentary rocks that there was liquid water on Mars in the past. Water must pass through there, so that those stones become round. We also know the paths of rivers from satellite photos. .
So there used to be liquid water here, but we don’t know how long this water stays there. Maybe 50 years, maybe 500 thousand years left. Mars has 4.5 billion years of history. We can safely say that there used to be water there.”
