Turkey Sends Aid and Establishes Field Hospitals in Libya

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Wednesday that Ankara will send a ship to Libya carrying equipment to establish two field hospitals with a crew of 148 individuals.

Turkey has already sent three planes to transport humanitarian aid, in addition to a rescue team and an 11-member medical team, to Libya on Tuesday.

Koca added in a statement on the X platform, formerly Twitter, that the ship, which will depart from the city of Izmir in the west on Wednesday night, will transport ambulances and emergency response vehicles.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that diplomats from the Turkish embassy in Tripoli arrived at the disaster area along with the Turkish rescue team and medical teams to coordinate relief efforts.

He added in a press conference with his British counterpart, James Cleverly, that Turkey is ready to provide more humanitarian aid to Libya if necessary.

He added that the Turkish rescue team recovered six people from under the rubble in the areas affected by the floods.
