Turkey Reluctant to Fight Russia If Moscow Attacks Ukraine

ANKARA, KOMPAS.TVTurkey is reluctant to fight Russia if an attack on Ukraine is carried out.

Whereas Turkey is a member of NATO, which currently supports Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.

Moreover, Turkey and Ukraine have a developing defense relationship, particularly for the purchase of Turkish-made ‘Bayraktar’ drones.

Turkey’s move was revealed by one of the country’s senior officials.

Quoted from Bloomberg, the official said Turkey did not conduct coordination measures on Ukraine with Washington.

They choose to act independently for the safety of their own interests.

The official emphasized Turkey’s reluctance to go against Russia in line with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s foreign policy maneuvers.

He stressed Erdogan wants to defend Turkey’s interests from Syria to Libya and the Caucasus, conflicts in which Moscow is on opposite sides.

Turkey is known to have the second largest military power in NATO after the United States (US).
