Turkey offers itself as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered this Wednesday to mediate between the governments of Ukraine and Russia in an attempt to curb escalating tensions that has occurred recently between the parties due to the deployment of Russian troops on the Ukrainian border.

Erdogan’s words come after US President Joe Biden and his allies threatened to take “forceful” action in response to what they consider an attack by Moscow on Ukrainian territory.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has blamed NATO for trying to strengthen relations with Kiev, something that would have upset him. Moscow has insisted on the need for Washington to ensure that the military alliance is not made with new members nor does it deploy weapons systems to areas near its borders.

We are willing to give our greatest support to achieve the reduction of tensions between Russia and Ukraine and try to establish a channel for dialogue between the parties, “he asserted, according to information from the ‘Bloomberg’ news agency.
