Turkey: New bargains in the US to get F-35 – The “exchange” with the S-400 – 2024-08-29 07:40:22

Ankara has reportedly started bargaining again in order to return to the F-35 program.

More specifically, Turkey has reportedly brought to the negotiating table with the US a proposal to resolve the problem with the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft system in order to procure US-made F-35 fighter jets, reports the Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet.

According to information cited by the newspaper, Ankara proposed to “store the S-400s in boxes and allow the United States to carry out inspections” as a possible solution to the ongoing dispute that led to Turkey’s expulsion from the fifth-generation fighter program.

Cumhuriyet reports that a senior official at the US embassy in Ankara, who was not named, did not deny these claims and was quoted as saying that “the ball is now in Turkey’s court” and that the conditions for buying the F-35s from in Turkey they are known, as broadcast by ERT.
