Making a statement before the NATO summit held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, Scholtz emphasized that the decisions regarding the further development of relations between Turkey and the European Union were made at the last European Union Leaders’ Summit.
Stating that they want the European Union Commission to submit proposals and reports to improve relations, Solts said:
“I will also talk with President (Receb Tayyip) Erdogan here. Turkey is an important partner for us. This will be expressed in future relations as well.”
Stating that the issue of further development of relations will be discussed in his meeting with President Erdoğan, Sholtz noted that the Council of Europe is making efforts to make relevant decisions regarding the restoration of cooperation with Turkey.
