The Cordelio of Smyrna in Turkey is on fire, as the fire that has been burning the area since Friday afternoon has been raging.
In particular, on Friday night, the fire that has been burning for over 26 hours in the massif north of Kordelio in Smyrna has reached residential areas.
Strong northerly winds are blowing in the area and the flames have reddened the sky of Smyrna, while the atmosphere is suffocating due to the smoke.
In Kordelio, residents in two districts were evacuated from their homes, while another village was evacuated from the opposite side of the mountain mass, towards Aidini.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) reported that 3,583 people were evacuated as a precaution due to the forest fires in Izmir, Aydinio, Bolu, Mugla and Manisa.

According to the official count, 16 houses have been burnt so far, while in the afternoon the fire had burnt down facilities in the industrial zone. Television networks broadcast images of a ten-story apartment building whose roof is on fire.

78 people in hospital
The Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli rushed to Izmir to inspect the extinguishing work. The Ministry of Health announced that 78 people had to be hospitalized from the fires in Izmir, of which only 29 remain in hospitals at the moment.
