Restrictions on the quantities of basic necessities purchased by citizens have been introduced in the store chain of a number of supermarkets in Istanbul.
Restrictions include retail sales of fresh milk, sunflower oil, flour, sugar, and cigarettes. According to the ordinance, citizens will have the right to buy a maximum of two liters of fresh milk and sunflower oil, up to two kilograms of flour and sugar, as well as two packs of cigarettes per person. It is forbidden to sell 5 liter bottles and cans of sunflower oil
Meanwhile, a new increase in cigarette prices has been made, with the cheapest pack of cigarettes now costing 19 Turkish lira. the Turkish lira, Nova TV reported.
Last week, a legal amendment was introduced in the Turkish parliament, which provides for heavy fines for traders who stockpile goods or sell to citizens in excess of limited quantities.
