For the first time the Kurdish question reaches the Turkish Parliament, thanks to the president of the opposition party MHP Devlet Bahceli, who asked the leader of the PKK, Abdullah Ocalan, imprisoned in Imrali since 1990 , to intervene in the Chamber. Bahceli spoke of the need for a “courageous move”, of a “historic opportunity”.
Turkish President Recep Tayyo Erdogan publicly supports Bahceli’s initiative on the peace process for the first time, and praised the main leader of the Yogurt Ozelot opposition for promoting a spirit of unity in the country.
“The State belongs to all citizens”, said President Erdogan, confirming the commitment of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) for 22 years in the fight against all forms of semi- birth
Erdogan also emphasized that advances in Turkey’s defense industry are essential for the country’s success in fighting terrorism.
The president of Turkey said that “Turks and Kurds should love each other”, reinforcing this principle as a religious and political obligation. In his recent speech he called for the adoption of nationalism, urging the Kurds to refrain from joining the incitements of those who serve imperialism and Zionism.”
A few days after shaking hands with representatives of the Party for People’s Equality and Democracy, the representative of the People’s Democratic Party and the current face of the Kurdish movement linked to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, the leader of the movement nationalist, Devlet Bahceli, intervened by proposing a “non-terrorism policy” to “remove the historical problem and burden of terrorism from Turkey’s record”, in exchange for receiving “the right to hope, as provision was made in Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
This initiative could lead to a solution to the issue of 20 million Kurds living in Türkiye.
