Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The death toll from the earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria has increased again. The latest data obtained on Friday (10/2/2023) evening WIB shows the number of fatalities has exceeded 22 thousand.
In detail, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said 18,991 people had died in Turkey. For Syria, the number has penetrated 3,377 people.
Even so, there were some miraculous events that occurred during the evacuation. In the Turkish city of Antakya, rescuers pulled 18-month-old Yusuf Huseyin from the rubble, who survived 105 hours under the rubble.
Three-year-old Zeynep Ela Parlak was also rescued in Antakya earlier today. Meanwhile in Adiyaman Province, rescuers rescued 60-year-old Eyup Ak, and in Gaziantep, two people were pulled out alive including a child whose age was unknown.

Meanwhile, Erdogan has acknowledged that his government is experiencing obstacles. It is known that he previously received the wrath of residents who said the rescue process was very slow.
“Too many buildings have been destroyed,” he said in a press statement.
“We admit Turkey’s earthquake rescue efforts have not been as fast as expected,” he added.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 rocked Turkey and Syria at 4 in the morning Monday. The quake occurred 23 kilometers east of Nurdagi, in Turkey’s Gaziantep province, at a depth of 24.1 kilometers.
The epicenter of the earthquake was detected on land. In fact, it is only about 30 km from the city of Gaziantep which has a population of up to 2 million people.
