Doctors staged a protest in Turkey as they gathered in front of the Israeli consulate in Istanbul to demand the release of Kamal Adwan Hospital director Hussam Abu Safia. Abu Shafia is being held by Israeli forces after a raid on the facility in northern Gaza late last month.
The Medical Chamber of Istanbul, which organized the protest on Friday night, said in a statement:
“There are many prominent and heroic figures in the history of the Palestinian struggle, and in the last days of 2024, that figure was Dr. Hussam Abu Shafia. who worked to treat injured children in the midst of Israeli attacks, despite the obstacles imposed by the war.”
