Turkey has blocked the adoption of a NATO decision, which would have referred to possible military action against Belarus, according to The Washington Post. This was said by two diplomats familiar with the situation in NATO. Turkey has used its veto to block NATO decisions on Minsk.
Earlier, the NATO Council issued a statement calling for an international investigation of the Ryanair incident over Belarus. Also, NATO countries called on Minsk to release the detained Roman Protasevich and Sofia Sapega. In addition, NATO provided support for EU decisions that announced sanctions in connection with the incident.
Recall that several European airlines canceled flights over the territory of Belarus – this was the decision of the European Union. Now part of the flights bypass this country.
