Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced on Monday that his country and Armenia will appoint special envoys to address the steps to follow to normalize bilateral diplomatic relations. In addition, Cavusoglu has announced the resumption of charter flights between Istanbul and Yerevan.
“We will soon appoint special representatives to normalize relations with Armenia on a reciprocal basis. Istanbul will launch international charter flights to Yerevan. We will act together with Azerbaijan at every step,” explained Cavusoglu occurred during an appearance in the Turkish Parliament collected by the Turkish press.
The minister stressed that Turkey will coordinate with its ally Azerbaijan, an enemy of Armenia, the steps for the normalization of relations with Armenia.
On September 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian referred to the normalization of relations with Turkey, a proposal mentioned by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan days ago.
“We see in these statements an opportunity to talk about the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey and the relaunch of the Armenian-Turkish railway and highways. We are ready for that conversation,” he said.
Russia has publicly stated its willingness to actively support this process and the European Union, France and the United States have also expressed their support.
